THE POSITION:

The position reports to the Managing Director and Board its purpose is to assist supervising and managing the financial operations of AKPS. The candidate will ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the full accounting cycle of the school i.e. Sales, Fixed Assets, Debtors, Creditors, Payroll and Bank & cash.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

The incumbent will form part of the Executive Management Team (EXCOM) and will be responsible for the overall financial management of the institution.

Minimum Requirements:

• At least honors degree in Accountancy and Finance.
• At least 3 years article with big 5 Audit Firms
• A Chartered Accountant or equivalent professional qualification will be an advantage
• At least 10 years’ experience in a similar role, of which at least 5 must be in a leadership or managerial role.
• Effective communication skills
• Budgeting, forecasting and presentation skills
• Proven experience working on Pastel V14 and VIP payroll system.
• Thorough understanding of general ledger structures
• Good knowledge IFS and IAS
• Good knowledge of direct and indirect taxes, the Companies Act and any other regulations relevant to the finance portfolio

• Ability to setup systems and manage teams on a “work-from-home” scenario
• Review accounting journals before posting for approval by Executive director
