PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Assisting in the safe and efficient operation of launches, primarily in the engine room, and (where applicable) ensure that instructions from the Skipper are carried out to their specifications and expectations to ensure that launch services are efficiently carried out.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• A grade 10 or 12 grade school certificate of competency with valid safety certificates.
• 5 years operational experience complying with DMA regulations.
• Mechanical experience with Marine Motorman Grade 2 will be an advantage
• Valid Driving License Code B

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Carry out checks on engines for start up
• Assist with loading cargo
• Operate crane if required
• Check fuel tank levels
• Complete Engine room log book
• Assist Skipper with routine check / engine room watches of plant as required.
• Advise the Skipper of any faults or repairs required to equipment in engine Compartment
• Check Fuel level and co-ordinate with the skipper the refilling of fuel tanks, if required. (Record fuel stock transfers in log book)
