Most employers in Namibia look for a Grade 12 certificate plus a diploma or certificate in logistics, transport management, or supply chain. A Code B or C1 driver’s licence and experience with transport management software are often an added advantage.

You would plan and coordinate truck loads, monitor driver movements and delivery times, and communicate with clients about cargo status. The role also involves checking freight documentation, managing delays or breakdowns, and ensuring drivers follow route and safety procedures.

The logistics sector in Namibia is fast-paced and deadline-driven, so employers expect reliability, clear communication, and the ability to work under pressure. You should be comfortable working shifts or being on call, as freight movement often continues after normal office hours and over weekends.

With experience, a Freight Controller can move into senior controller, fleet supervisor, or operations coordinator roles. Further study in logistics or transport management can support progression into transport manager or branch operations positions.
