FOREMAN: ROADS (PATTERSON BAND C4) ROADS DIVISION

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Roads Foreman is responsible to the Deputy Engineer to direct and supervise both unionized employees and contractors for all roads-related maintenance activities within the assigned geographical area of Otjiwarongo. This includes maintenance of division equipment as well as administration and execution of authority policies and procedures.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

• Application of activities in the Bitumen Roads Maintenance Manual.
• Co-ordination the activities of sub-ordinates and contractors.
• Controls and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment of the division.
• Adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHSM) at the Workplace

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Three-year National Diploma in Civil Engineering
• A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years in progressively responsible related position and at least five (5) years’ experience in road maintenance and construction.
• A minimum of two (2) years supervisory experience (Municipal experience preferred)
• Must hold a valid Code B Driver’s licence
• Computer knowledge (e.g. use Microsoft office etc. – including email programs) would be considered as an advantage
