Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily broiler house operations and ensure all staff report to workstations on time
- Ensure removal of pre-catch mortalities on a daily basis
- Conduct inspections of machines and equipment before and after use
- Perform thorough house inspections before and after bird catching
- Ensure catching equipment is maintained in good working condition
- Prevent and control after-catch mortalities, avoiding pile-ups
- Perform load calculations and monitor bird numbers per load
- Report any variances between house counts and catching balances
- Communicate final load figures to the processing plant daily
- Record and report equipment damages promptly
- Operate and respond to alarm systems where required
- Enforce strict adherence to biosecurity protocols and procedures
- Ensure all activities comply with animal welfare standards
- Maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness in all broiler houses
- Inspect and maintain site infrastructure and equipment regularly
- Ensure proper housekeeping standards are maintained at all times
- Monitor and manage feed and coal stock levels
- Perform daily feed and water management
- Record and report mortalities and feed usage accurately
- Complete daily production records and reports
- Conduct routine site and perimeter security checks
- Supervise staff and maintain discipline on site
- Monitor timekeeping and maintain accurate attendance records
- Delegate duties and ensure compliance with assigned tasks
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance where required

Requirements
- Grade 12 (NQF Level 4)
- Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in poultry or farming operations (advantageous)
