Organization Overview: The Centre for Resource and Transformation (CERET) is a not-for-profit organization committed to fostering sustainable development and social transformation. Our diverse projects encompass areas such as education, healthcare, and environmental conservation. As we continue to expand our initiatives, we are seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join our team in Windhoek. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity of our projects and programs.
Responsibilities:
⦁ Prepare and analyse financial statements in accordance with locally accepted accounting standards
⦁ Oversee day-to-day accounting tasks, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries, adhering to local accounting regulations
⦁ Ensure compliance with local tax regulations and reporting requirements for nonprofit organizations
⦁ Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes for CERET projects, considering local financial normsand practices
⦁ Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to monitor project budgets and expenditures within the context of local accounting principles
⦁ Participate in grant proposal development and reporting to funding agencies, aligning with local financial reporting standards
⦁ Conduct financial analysis and provide insights to support decision-making, utilizing relevant financial data within the local context
⦁ Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory bodies as needed, understanding and implementing local audit requirements
Requirements:
⦁ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, with knowledge of locally accepted accounting standards
⦁ Proven experience as a Financial Accountant, preferably in the nonprofit sector
⦁ Strong knowledge of local accounting principles and regulations for nonprofit organizations
⦁ Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel, with experience using systems compliant with local standards
⦁ Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply them within the local context
⦁ Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively, considering local accounting requirements
⦁ Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration within the local professional context
