Position: Financial Accountant
Location: Windhoek

Organization Overview: The Centre for Resource and Transformation (CERET) is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to driving sustainable development and social transformation across Namibia. Our diverse initiatives span community development, hospitality, education, healthcare, and environmental conservation.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a Financial Accountant to join our passionate team in Windhoek. This role is critical to maintaining the financial integrity of our projects and programs, ensuring transparency, accountability, and strategic financial planning.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and analyse financial statements Ensure all financial reports comply with locally accepted accounting standards.
• Manage daily accounting operations Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger entries in line with local regulations.
• Ensure tax compliance for nonprofit organizations Monitor and fulfill local tax reporting requirements specific to nonprofit entities.
• Support budgeting and financial planning Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for CERET projects, considering local financial norms and practices.
• Collaborate on project financial oversight Work with project managers and stakeholders to track budgets and expenditures, ensuring alignment with local accounting principles.
• Contribute to grant proposal development Participate in preparing financial sections of grant proposals and reporting to funding agencies, adhering to local financial reporting standards.
• Conduct financial analysis for decision-making Provide insights based on relevant financial data to support strategic decisions within the local context.
• Coordinate audits and regulatory reviews Liaise with external auditors and regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with local audit requirements.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• Knowledge of locally accepted accounting standards
• Proven experience as a Financial Accountant in nonprofit sector preferred
• Strong understanding of local accounting principles and nonprofit regulations
• Proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, applied within the local context
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative mindset
