PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
Manage and coordinate the production team to achieve optimal productivity and effectiveness in the Bakery to ensure quality output and production.
KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical Strategies:
⦁ Continuously assess and improve the efficiencies of the production plant.
⦁ Accurately performing feasibility studies for new facilities and systems.
⦁ Coordination of expansions with new facilities.
⦁ Continuously create and table new ideas for new products suitable for the market.
Operational:
⦁ Continuously review existing processes/procedures to maximize production efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
⦁ Monitor productivity levels of the personnel by means of production reports, physical inspections, and timeously followup on any discrepancies.
⦁ Continuous conformance to product quality requirements. Reduction of production costs due to non-conformance.
⦁ Ensure corrective action to prevent the recurrence of nonconformance to quality requirements.
⦁ Aid with the procurement of raw materials and equipment.
⦁ Being responsible for maintenance, adjustment and monitoring of existing process control procedures and parameters.
Ascertain that equipment used for process control are properly and regularly calibrated and maintained.
⦁ Monitor customer complaints to implement corrective actions and determine trends. Always ensure product availability.
⦁ Being responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a system whereby the cleanest possible conditions are maintained whilst contamination and infestation is eradicated.
⦁ Ensure proper settings and conditions on all equipment to ensure conformance to quality requirements, satisfactory yields, and cost-effectiveness.
Planning, Organising, and Control:
⦁ Plan production runs in accordance with the Dispatch Manager to always assure product availability. Production runs must be planned to be continuous where possible.
⦁ Plan the activities of the Supervisors in accordance with production goals, availability of raw materials, and manpower.
⦁ Production must be planned in such a manner that overtime is reduced to the minimum.
⦁ Plan and coordinate proper external maintenance according to a fixed plan with the Maintenance Manager. Plan internal maintenance according to a proper maintenance plan and monitor.
Quality and Hygiene Control:
⦁ Ensure good systems are in place. Provision of good quality and housekeeping standards.
⦁ Compliance with ISO standards. Compliance with statutory requirements.
Administration:
⦁ Ensure accuracy and maintenance of production reports.
Ensure timeous submission of documentation as required.
⦁ Compliance with company standards and requirements regarding administration practices.
⦁ Accurate personnel administration.
Financial:
⦁ Accurate drafting and timeous submission of annual budget.
Being responsible for controlling of budget with minimal variance between budgeted amounts and actual amounts.
⦁ Being responsible for purchasing Departmental equipment.
⦁ Being responsible for Monthly reporting on Departmental financials.
Staff Management:
⦁ Ensure training and development as per ISO & OHS standards and procedures.
⦁ Ensure compliance to company standards and procedures.
⦁ Initiating disciplinary enquiries, handling of grievances and the output of all staff. Provides guidance as required.
⦁ Assist with good Human Resources practices.
⦁ Supervise staff to ensure good quality of work. Being responsible for productivity and efficiency of staff performance.
⦁ Calculate shifts to ensure sufficient staffing levels as required.
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
⦁ 10 Years’ relevant experience in Production in a Bakery Plant.
⦁ 3 years experience in a Managerial position.
⦁ Experience in FMCG environment.
⦁ National Higher Diploma/Certificate NQF Level 5.
⦁ Tertiary qualification in a technical discipline if less than 7 years experience in production in a Bakery Plant.
⦁ Certificate in the theory of Bread making from the South African Chamber of Baking.
⦁ Technical background will be an added advantage.
⦁ Wheat grading certificate would be an added advantage.
⦁ Fumigation Certificate would be an added advantage.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
⦁ Proficient in written and spoken English.
⦁ Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
⦁ People Management skills.
⦁ Namibian citizen/eligibility to work in Namibia.
