EXTRUSION CONTROLLER – Namib Mills (Pty) Ltd 702 views

To manage the ordering, dispatch and logistics of raw materials and finished materials. As well as manage and control a production shift being responsible for the production of extruded products in accordance with good manufacturing practices and quality requirements.

KEY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Machinery Operation:

• Operate machinery effectively and efficiently.
• Start or ensure that all machines have been started up correctly.
• Ensure that machinery is operated within specified requirements and perform on correct quality
• Ensure that machinery is always safe to work with and do regular visual checks to ensure smooth operation of machinery.
• Minimize waste of products.
• Ensure efficient and optimal production.
• Manage the stock levels of raw materials for production process.
• Set up production and operational process and manage machines to correct operation.
• Assist with maintenance on all equipment in the process.
• Assist with installation and commissioning of factory and utility equipment.
• Manage the use of all utilities on site.
• Set and change machines as required.
• Report faults, defects and constraints to the Manager.
• Stay abreast on industry standards.
• Ensure excellent housekeeping.

Quality Control:

• Ensure quality of final product as per specifications.
• Maintains the ISO 9001/2000 system by always adhering to work procedures, daily/ monthly cleaning schedules and development of new work procedures where needed and continuous improvement.
• Monitor and maintain optimal production.
• Receiving: raw materials and dispatch of final products. Also maintaining the correct administrative practices with regards to this
• Ensure that Namib Mills adheres to best practices on manufacturing and stay abreast on raw material and production process industry changes.
• Working closely with QA, QC and other departments and always ensuring adherence to their requirements.
• Completion of production and weight sheets – ensure 100% stock control.
• Ensure that all order requirements (demands) are done (met) for the next day.

Staff Supervision:

• Supervise staff and ensure all staff remain competent.
• Be a proactive part of the operations team and assist in any activities as required by the team.
• Maintain discipline to reach production targets and improve productivity.
• Perform ad hoc duties as required by the Company

Logistics:

• Ensure all raw material is ordered and deliver as per production requirements.
• Ensure all production occurs as per production requirements.
• Manage logistics to deliver raw materials to end used.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE :

• Grade 12(NQF 4) with two (2) years’ experience in a supervisory position.
• Technical background will be an added advantage.

OTHER:

• Computer literate.
• Proficient in English.
• Namibian Citizenship.
• Willing to work shifts, overtime, weekends and public holidays.
