Position: Executive (5 – Year Fixed Term Contract)

Business Unit: Generation

Duty Station: Head Office

Primary purpose of the job:

The incumbent is responsible for overseeing the execution of generation projects, directing, and coordinating generation of electrical energy from all existing and future NamPower owned generating stations in a ring-fenced Electricity Supply Industry environment.

Kay Responsibilities:

• Manages, directs and co-ordinates the activities of the Generation Business Unit to ensure optimum, efficient, and economical operations.
• Oversees the planning of projects which include conceptual design, performance modelling, feasibility studies, tendering, consent applications, and inputs to financial models and project contracts.
• Evaluates the potential of new generation business opportunities both within and outside the borders of Namibia in support of NamPower’s strategic plan.
• Investigates opportunities to enter into joint ventures with Independent Power Producers (IPP’s).
• Develops and implements the Business Plan for Generation Business Unit.
• Identifies risks in the Generation Business Unit and develops the most appropriate mitigation measures.
• Management of the NamPower Generation license and compliance with all relevant institutions.
• Financial and budget management of the Business Unit.

Minimum Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (NQF Level 7 or higher) or equivalent qualification.
• Registration as an Incorporated or Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of Namibia is required.
• Relevant Master’s Degree and/or MBA will serve as an advantage.
• Valid Code B driver’s license.

Experience Required:

• A minimum of 10 years’ experience in Generation Business of the electrical power industry of which 5 years must be in a Senior Managerial capacity.
• Computer literacy – MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, SAP an added advantage.
