POSITION:                 EXECUTIVE COMMERCIAL SERVICES

REPORTING TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER DEPARTMENT: COMMERCIAL SERVICES LOCATION: PORT OF WALVIS BAY

 

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Provides strategic Commercial Services leadership to the Namibian Ports Authority (Namport) to promote and expand the company’s commercial activities to ensure continuous revenue generation and volume growth for a sustainable business.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS;

• Develop and implement commercial plans to achieve the company’s strategic objectives aimed at accelerating volume and business growth;
• Drive the business volumes throughput through the Ports of Walvis Bay and Luderitz to ensure maximum utilization of facilities and optimal return on investments;
• Conduct market research and analysis to develop informed and detailed business plans on commercial opportunities in line with the company’s business development requirements for future Port infrastructure in order to meet customer needs;
• Manage the Commercial Department to ensure alignment and compliance with national goals, plans and agreements;
• Drive and embed the Namport brand and continuously develop competitive brand promotional opportunities and offerings;
• Establish networks, build and maintain profitable partnership with key stakeholders and manage client relationships;
• Understand the requirement of customers to ensure their needs are met;
• Develop and implement communication and stakeholder management policies and strategies;
• Manage the Corporate Social Responsibility function and fund;
• Lead and coordinate diverse teams (marketing, sales, business development, customer care and corporate communication
• Develop and manage departmental annual operational and capital budgets and expenditure;
• Manage and establish human capital excellence in the department;
• Monitor performance of commercial activities using key metrics and prepare reports for senior management;
• A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing; Business Administration/ Management or related field;
• An MBA, relevant Master’s Degree or Port Graduate Diploma in Business Management;
• A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in the field of Commercial, of which 5 years should be at senior management capacity;
• Strategic leadership and excellent communication skills;
• Strong knowledge of port and shipping industry coupled with previous exposure in marketing, sales and business development.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing; Business Administration/ Management or related field;
• An MBA, relevant Master’s Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management;
• A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience in the field of Commercial, of which 5 years should be at senior management capacity;
• Strategic leadership and excellent communication skills;
• Strong knowledge of port and shipping industry coupled with previous exposure in marketing, sales and business development.
