ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER – ONIIPA TOWN COUNCIL

DEPARTMENT: TECHNICAL, PLANNING & COMMUNITY SERVICES
1 x ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH PRACTITIONER (C4)
Salary Scale : N$219,295 – N$228,155 per annum
Transport Allowance : N$ 7 704.00 per annum
Housing Allowance : 40% of the basic salary (with a mortgage bond) or
20% of basic salary (without a mortgage bond)
Medical Aid : 85% Employer Contribution
Pension Benefit : 21.7% Employer Contribution
13th Cheque : N$18,274.58

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To identify, implement effective waste and environmental management mechanisms
and ensure compliance with all relevant health and environment health standards and
regulation.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
• Inspections of premises for fitness valuation
• Health regulations, programmes and related advice
• Waste management and cleanness of the Town
• Disease control and public education
• Occupational health and Food Safety control
• Administration of the Division

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS & COMPETENCIES:
• Grade 12 Certificate; and
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health/Management/Science/Public Health or
equivalent qualification.
• Four (4) years’ experience in environmental health, of which two (2) years should have
been spent Supervisory Level, preferably in a local Authority/ environmental services.
• Registration as Environmental Health Practitioner with the Health Profession Council of
Namibia
• Registration as Peace officer will be an added advantage
• Code B Driver’s Licence
• Foreign qualifications must be accomp
