The Environmental Control Officer (ECO) shall be permanently based on site. Any on-site decisions regarding environmental and social management, as well as health and safety, are ultimately the responsibility of the ECO in consultation with NamiWater’s Environmentalist, Health and Safety Officer and Project Manager. The ECO shall have the following responsibilities in terms of the implementation of the ESMP and NSMPs:

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure full compliance with environmental regulations, ESMP, NSMPs, and Employer requirements on site.
- Monitor and enforce environmental management practices throughout the project lifecycle.
- Conduct site inspections, audits, and environmental impact assessments.
- Identify environmental risks and implement mitigation measures.
- Promote environmental awareness and compliance among site staff and contractors.
- Prepare environmental reports and maintain proper documentation.
- Work closely with the Site Agent and project team to resolve environmental issues.
Requirements
- Hold a BSc. in Environmental Science/Management or equivalent. Higher qualification with relevant specialization is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in the construction industry.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar Environmental Control Officer role.
- Minimum 5 years’ working experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably Namibia.
- Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and compliance standards.
- Experience implementing ESMP and related environmental frameworks.
- Excellent reporting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English (mandatory).
