Purpose of the position:

To provide comprehensive, holistic nursing care to all patients in the Acute Ward within the scope of practice of an Enrolled Nurse.

Responsibilities:

• Adherence to established ward protocols, standards, and procedures
• Accurate and timeous recording of all matters relating to patient condition and progress
• Accompanying of doctors on their Ward rounds in the absence of the Registered Nurse and ensuring doctor’s orders are carried out
• Timeously reports any matters of concern, particularly relating to patient care, to the Senior Registered Nurse/Registered Nurse
• Liaison with the Pharmacy regarding patient medication, ward medications and stock
• Timeously and accurately writing up incident reports as appropriate
• Liaison with the Ward Secretary regarding all administrative matters affecting Ward activities
• Reports regularly to the Senior Registered Nurse/Registered Nurse on any matter affecting patient care, patient security, doctor relationships, staff relationships (teamwork), stock control or any other matter of concern
• Checking, verifying, and reconciliation of stock levels and records
• Checking of the Emergency trolley to ensure it is complete
• Liaison with the Credit Controller in ensuring accurate and timeous billing
• Provides the patient and their family with the appropriate information regarding their treatment program
• Liaison with members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient care and clinical standards are maintained

Minimum requirements:

• Certificate in Nursing
• Current registration with the Health Professions Council of Namibia as an Enrolled Nurse
• Minimum 3 years post-basic clinical experience, recent clinical experience
• Willing and able to work shifts, including weekends and night duty
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues.
• Fluent in English, Additional language will be advantageous
• Namibian citizenship or residency status
