Reporting to: Nursing Manager
Department: Acute Ward
Station: Windhoek
Purpose of the position:
To provide comprehensive, holistic nursing care to all patients in the Acute Ward within the scope of practice of an Enrolled Nurse.
Responsibilities:
- Adherence to established ward protocols, standards, and procedures
- Accurate and timeous recording of all matters relating to patient condition and progress
- Accompanying of doctors on their Ward rounds in the absence of the Registered Nurse and ensuring doctor’s orders are carried out
- Timeously reports any matters of concern, particularly relating to patient care, to the Senior Registered Nurse/Registered Nurse
- Liaison with the Pharmacy regarding patient medication, ward medications and stock
- Timeously and accurately writing up incident reports as appropriate
- Liaison with the Ward Secretary regarding all administrative matters affecting Ward activities
- Reports regularly to the Senior Registered Nurse/Registered Nurse on any matter affecting patient care, patient security, doctor relationships, staff relationships (teamwork), stock control or any other matter of concern
- Checking, verifying, and reconciliation of stock levels and records
- Checking of the Emergency trolley to ensure it is complete
- Liaison with the Credit Controller in ensuring accurate and timeous billing
- Provides the patient and their family with the appropriate information regarding their treatment program
- Liaison with members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient care and clinical standards are maintained
Minimum requirements:
- Certificate in Nursing
- Current registration with the Health Professions Council of Namibia as an Enrolled Nurse
- Minimum 3 years post-basic clinical experience, recent clinical experience
- Willing and able to work shifts, including weekends and night duty
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues.
- Fluent in English, Additional language will be advantageous
- Namibian citizenship or residency status
