Job Description

Provide technical input as well as contract and project management services including effective leadership to the development and implementation of various power generation projects such as Biomass, Wind and Solar projects.

Typical tasks include:

· Management of consultants and contractors, provides technical input on various aspects of projects, feasibility studies and project investigation;

· Equipment design and improvements.

· Compiling tenders, site supervision, and commissioning of new equipment and facilities.

· Stakeholder engagement and in general provide mentorship to young engineers.

 

Responsibilities:

· Performs project management, contract management and related activities including.

· In conjunction with the relevant Senior Engineer/Project Manager, identifies and executes major tasks supporting the different phases of the execution of the project, including but not limited to project initiation, planning, executing, monitoring, and controlling and closing.

· Assists the Senior Engineer/Project Manager in the compilation and management (monitor and control) of the operating and capital budgets of the section.

· Assists the Senior Engineer/Project Manager with the expenditure and mobilization of financial resources.

· Compiles or assists the Senior Engineer/Project Manager with the compilation of correspondence, and technical & process project-related documentation.

· Performs or assists the Senior Engineer/Project Manager in the procurement process of goods, services or works required for projects.

· Manages or assists the Senior Engineer/Project Manager with the management of Goods, Consultancy, or Works Contracts in line with the General and Special conditions of the contract under the supervision of the Senior Engineer (Project Manager).

· Reviews or assists the Senior Engineer (Project Manager) in the review of technical documentation and drawings provided by others.

· Participates in the mentoring and coaching of Assistant Engineers as part of NamPower’s capacity-building and transfer of knowledge objectives.

· Establishes and maintains sound working relationships with co-workers and group members to resolve problems.

· Develops a climate conducive of promoting teamwork and crossing of functional boundaries.

· Prepare or assists the Senior Engineer to prepare funding applications and

any related documentation required from financial due diligence processes.
