ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Ensure adherence to all Legal, Health, Safety and Environment standards and policies.
• Lead by example through compliance with the company purpose and values.
• Plan approved work requests and work requested by the maintenance team.
• Along with production representatives, solve planning issues such as job priority, due date,
work scope, etc.
• Plan the functions of the maintenance team for shutdowns to ensure the effective completion
of shut down work.
• Ensure drawing updates are done for all equipment modifications in co-operation with
document controller.
• Revise completed work orders to ensure all information is documented.
• Create, maintain, and optimize the maintenance program with the maintenance team.
• Ensure that all planned parts are available to maintenance prior to starting the job.
• Create yearly Preventative Maintenance (PMs) workload analysis and review PM strategy
accordingly.
• Maintain a strong planning orientation and compliance with the Planning System of the
company.
• Coordinate with the production team in terms of scheduling and planning weekly operations
and shutdowns.
• Maintain a strong production focus and provide feedback to stakeholders on work done and
proactively identify areas to prevent unplanned stoppages.
• Compile and submit reports as required by internal and external stakeholders.
• Recognize and take action in relation to opportunities to prevent breakdowns and to improve
overall equipment effectiveness.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
• A Grade 12 Certificate, with a minimum of 23 points.
• A N3 Trade certificate in Electrical or Instrumentation (For Electrical or Instrumentation
Planner)
• A N3 Trade certificate in Mechanical (For Maintenance Planner: Workshops and
Infrastructure)
• A National Diploma in the above disciplines is an added advantage.
• A minimum of 10 year’s relevant post-trade test work experience is required; of which a
minimum of 3 years should have been as a Planner. Candidates with more relevant experience
will have an added advantage.
• Must have strong Project Management experience.
• Maintenance related experience in a heavy process industry, mining or steel, practicable fitting
skills.
• Understanding of Maintenance Management techniques and systems
• Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (MAXIMO)
• Good skills in planning and organizing tasks.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal).
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Code B Driver’s License.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office Suite, MS Projects).
