THE POSITION: EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT ASSISTANT OPERATOR

6 Month Contract
 

The incumbent will report to the Effluent Treatment Plant Operator and will be accountable for:

 

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
· Assisting with inspections on all the plant equipment such as pumps, slurry, water lines and valves, and report the defects to the Effluent Treatment Plant Operator.

· Communicating with the Control Room Operator, for the safe start and stop of the Effluent Plant by opening or closing the valves at the pumps in the absence of the Effluent Treatment Plant Operator.

· Assisting with inspections on all the plant safety equipment, such as safety showers, fire extinguishers, Fire Hydrants etc. and report any defects to the Effluent Treatment Plant Operator.

· Assisting with taking regular H2O samples and submit these to the main Laboratory.

· Assisting with analyzing the PH and Conductivity of all the water samples on site.

· Packing and loading of the Effluent Treatment Plant filter cake.

· Reagents preparation (e.g. mixing lime milk and flocculent).

· General housekeeping.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
· Grade 12 with a minimum of 23 points, (D) symbol in Mathematics and Physical Science.

· Two (2) years working experience in a metallurgical plant.

· Experience as an Effluent Treatment Plant Assistant Operator in a Sulphuric Acid Plant or similar environment (will be an added advantage).

· Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team.

· Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite.

· Code B driver’s license.
