EDITOR – The Namibian

Key Responsibilities

• Serve on the executive team
• Participate in budget planning and manage the editorial department efficiently
• Plan and deliver print and digital content on time and to standard
• Ensure quality and independence of all editorial output
• Lead staff development, training, and performance management

Requirements

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Media Studies or a related field from a recognised institution
• Must be of impeccable character and reputation
• Twelve years relevant experience, including five years in a senior editorial or newsroom leadership role
• Proficiency in English
• Namibian citizenship
• Valid driver’s license
• Valid certificate of conduct
• Strong leadership and managerial ability
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Impeccable writing and editing skills
• Solid understanding of cross platform media
• Knowledge of regional and international media practice
• Ability to work under constant pressure
• Creative thinker who motivates teams in the spirit of ‘telling it like it is’
• Clear commitment to independent journalism and press freedom

Salary
