Draughtsperson (VKE Namibia) – SMEC – Windhoek

Primary Position Purpose

Visualisation of engineering design solutions through preparation of drawings, digital models, reports, and other formats of presentation. Assisting project design team to compile design documents.

Main Responsibilities

The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:

• Preparing drawings and digital models of engineering design (primarily civil engineering).
• Assisting in obtaining, recording and manipulation of data as part of developing designs.
• Assisting with communication of design intent through professional presentations, engineering reports, specifications, models, and drawings.
• Assisting with quantification of designs and setting up schedules of quantities.
• Maintaining project documents and records in a common data environment.
• General assistance to project team in meeting deliverables quality and timeline targets.

• Reliably and continually produce deliverables.
• Precise, neat, and accurate work.
• Time management and adherence to production deadlines.
• Skills development (own and junior colleagues).

Recommended Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

• National Diploma in civil engineering or equivalent (NQF level 5)
• Working knowledge of local engineering industry’s technical guidelines and manuals.
• Applied software skills, advanced level of use of MS Word, MS Excel, and Autodesk suite (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Infraworks, Revit) [Autodesk Certified Professional certification is desirable].
