Duty Description
Role Purpose
The analyst will be responsible for evaluating and managing the credit risk for a portfolio of corporate clients
Role Responsibilities
Manage lending limits
Manage database and provide input regarding limits, ratings, Loss Given Default (LGD), and governance monitoring
Suggest risk mitigating measures as input to structure transactions in line with the risk philosophy of the Bank
Act as a bridge between risk and business on contentious issues
Remain objective in considering the facts from both a business and a risk point of view
Forecast, analyse financials, and collate data
Participate in meetings with senior stakeholders
Identifying transaction-specific risks including credit, taxation, accounting, and legal.
Introducing risk mitigating measures as input to structured transactions in line with the risk philosophy of the Bank.
Additional Requirements
General knowledge of practical economics relating to business, industry, and the Namibian macro-economic environment.
General understanding of trends in the global lending market with a view to providing input into the bank-wide lending policy development process.
A basic understanding of Corporate and Investment Bank credit ratings, portfolio theory and credit pricing.
Sound knowledge of all aspects of financial statements.
Sound knowledge of securities and contractual capacities.
Aspiration of building a career in the Credit environment
Excellent analytical skills for Credit Assessments to be able to make decisions based on assessment.
Strong leadership and management skills.
Ability to plan and work systematically.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Problem solving and analytical ability.
Strong sense for service excellence.
Excellent computer Literacy
Be highly intelligent, with an aptitude for complex problem solving, and have the ability to “think outside the box”
Must be energetic, motivated and a fast learner
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualification – Relevant Post Graduate Commerce Degree specializing in Credit
Having completed articles will be a distinct advantage
Experience – 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar environment of which 1 to 2 years ideally on junior specialist level
Experience in major financial institutions will be beneficial
Experience should ideally include financial modelling / understanding of financial modelling, assessing and advising on industry and company specific risks.
Basic understanding of credit ratings, portfolio theory and credit pricing.
