Introduction
Debmarine Namibia requires the services of a Crawler Pilot. The primary role of this position will be to pilot and co-pilot the crawler during mining operations and to maintain the mining equipment to ensure optimum availability and utilization of equipment.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

•Monitors weather and heave conditions in relation to vessel movement and crawler position to optimize the movement of the vessel and crawler at all times, ensuring safe operation.
•Monitors the progress of the ore extraction and adjusts the crawler parameters to suit seabed conditions by controlling mining parameters including Dredge motor settings, boom tip pressures / torque settings, slew speeds, boom height & crawler heading / position in lane when tracking in relation to the mining face.
•Carries out mining in the quickest, safest and most economical way possible by modifying crawler operating parameters related to the mining area geology. This includes ensuring proper clean up during mining.
•Monitors prevailing weather and ensuring personnel are at the Launch & Recovery stations before mining stops or the launch begins to ensure efficient and safe launch / recovery of the crawler.
•Checks that operating parameters and relevant data is captured during mining operations.
•Responsible for maintenance on the process line ‘through’ the crawler (i.e. nozzle to riser swivel including volute & impeller) and riser string to ball joint as well as maintenance of entire crawler.
•Carries out and records post & pre dive crawler check list / function tests.
•Cleans work areas to ensure that it is safe and tidy.
•Creates notifications for maintenance requests as required.

Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

•Grade 12 with Maths and Science/N3
•National Vocational Diploma in Fitter/Instrumentation and /or Electrical
•Computer literacy
•2 years’ post trade experience
•2 years’ R.O.V (Remote Operated Vehicle) experience in an offshore environment
