The Challenge
Namdeb (Pty) Ltd is seeking for motivated and enthusiastic Communication Interns to join our dynamic Corporate Affairs team. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience in various aspects that form part of internal and external communications, including media relations, content creation, social media management and events management. This internship offers hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment and the chance to contribute to impactful projects that align with Namdeb’s strategic objectives and goals.
Qualifications
The Ideal Applicant
- Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with impeccable grammar and attention to detail.
- Valid Code 08/ B driver license (manual transmission).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with communication tools and platforms.
- Basic proficiency in graphic design tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva is an added advantage.
- Basic understanding of digital marketing, social media platforms and their use in corporate communication.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment, with excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities and deadlines.
- Creative thinker with a passion for storytelling and a desire to learn and grow in the field of communication.
- Proven competency track record.

Job Specific Competencies
- Content Creation: Assist in creating engaging and informative content for various communication channels, including internal communications, website, social and media release content.
- Social Media Management: Support with developing content calendars, scheduling posts and assist with brainstorming and executing social media campaigns to increase brand awareness and engagement.
- Excellent Written and Verbal Communication Skills: Strong proficiency in written and verbal communication is essential.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the Corporate Affairs team, including organizing material, scheduling meetings, and coordinating logistics for communication projects and events.
- Research Abilities: Interns should be capable of conducting research on various topics relevant to the organization’s communication objectives, including industry trends, audience demographics, and competitor analysis.
- Interpersonal Skills: Good interpersonal skills that support building relationships with colleagues, media contacts, and other stakeholders. Interns will need to communicate effectively with team members from different departments and external partners.
- Basic Graphic Design, Creativity and Photography skills: The ability to generate visually appealing communication material such as infographics, use of photography and ability to think creatively and develop innovative communication messaging as Interns may be tasked with generating ideas for content or initiatives to engage target audiences effectively.
- Social Media Proficiency: Support with developing content calendars, scheduling posts and assist with brainstorming and executing social media campaigns to increase brand awareness and engagement.
- Media Relations Skills: Basic knowledge of media relations practices. Contribute to drafting media releases, media kits, and other materials to position company news and story ideas to journalists and influencers.
