CHIEF FIRE OFFICER (PATTERSON BAND: DI)
Applications are hereby invited from suitable qualified persons to fill the above-mentioned vacancy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
National Diploma in Emergency and Fire protection or equivalent qualification on NQF Level
Five (5) years’ experience in firefighting or emergency and disaster services environment of which at least 2 year at a supervisory level in a similar environment.
Registered with the Allied Health Professional Council of Namibia.
Must have acquired skills or undergone training in 1. Incident Command System (Intermediate and Advanced. 2. HAZMAT (Hazardous Materials) Awareness and Operational. 3. Intermediate Life Support (Emergency Care Practitioner)
Skills in Leadership, presentation skills, multi-disciplinary approach, decision making skills, high level of accountability, report writing skills, ability to motivate team members
Driver’s Licence Code Cl or CE
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
1. Emergency Preparedness of implementing emergency and disaster response plan.
2. Incident command system of assisting in taking charge of the organization’s on-scene response and maintaining command until medical services or law enforcement arrive and assume command or when relieved at start of next operational period.
3. Performs basic repair and maintenance of fire fighting vehicle and other emergency response vehicles and equipment.
4. Provides stakeholders training on fire safety, fire water reticulation systems, and injury prevention.
5. Conducts community outreach programs to promote fire safety subjects.
6. Completes vehicle/machinery inspection check list.
7. Sets sectional objectives and provides overall direction for the section.
REMUNERATION AND BENEFIT
A competitive remuneration package that includes a basic salary of N$403,766.84 per annum. Annual and Sick Leave, Pension Fund (21.7% Council contribution). Medical Aid (85%/15%), 13th Cheque, Housing Allowance (40% of basic salary if you own a house with a mortgage bond and 20% if you do not own a house)
