Care Worker

As the first and only private psychiatric hospital in Namibia, Bel Esprit opened in June 2018 to provide both in-hospital and out-of-hospital psychiatric clinical services for all Namibians. Bel Esprit resulted from the desperate need for Namibians to access mental health treatment within a private hospital environment.
The Hospital not only works on healing the disorder itself but also plays a key role in the rehabilitation of each and every patient admitted, to ensure easier reintegration with society after being discharged.
Unfortunately, mental health disorders still have a stigma in society. We are dedicated to educating our patients and the public that whether it’s a mental or physical disorder– neither is a choice.

Education & Skills

-Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience
-Grade 12
-Certificate in Healthcare or Caregiving is an added advantage.

Responsibilities:

-Takes responsibility for the orientation of new clients of the outlay of the ward, and the offered programs.
-Observes, cares for and assists the client during their stay, which includes assisting clients with their personal care, ensuring client joins activities, and is ready for Doctors’ rounds.
-Reports any out of the ordinary behaviour to the Nurses and/or Health Care Professionals; monitors the assigned patient and supervises -High Risk clients.
Presents and records completed sessions from care-worker to clients.
-Works closely with the Healthcare Professionals,
Registered and Enrolled Nurses to ensure holistic and beneficial patient care.
-Joins the Multi-Disciplinary Therapy sessions with the client when needed.
-IResponsible for observations in terms of monitoring of vital signs on admission and throughout the day, performing of relevant drug tests and screenings, regular monitoring and observation of clients as requested by senior nurse and doctors.
Responsible for basic vital screening, including weight and height, of new clients in OPD.
-Assists the Registered Nurse and Nurse Manager with additional duties as required within the scope of a Care Worker.
-Signs the relevant admission documents when admitting clients, which includes checking the client’s belongings, and locks the belongings up according to protocol, rules and regulations.
Makes copies of relevant documentation and files, stores according to company policies and procedures and applicable legislation.
On discharge, hands over the client’s belongings and prepares the client file according to protocol, rules and regulations.
