Cancer Prevention Physician – I-TECH Namibia

I-TECH Namibia promotes activities that increase human capacity for providing HIV/AIDS clinical care and support through the development of health care worker training systems. I-TECH invites suitably qualified persons to apply for the following position:

Cancer Prevention Physician x1 (Khomas Region).

The Position:

The goal of this position is to provide technical support and programme planning for sites and staff in I- TECH supported health facilities in the implementation of cancer prevention and screening activities in accordance with the National Cervical Cancer Prevention (CECAP) and treatment guidelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Participate as an active member of the National Cervical Cancer Prevention (CECAP) Technical Working Group, the National Family Planning Technical Working Group and other relevant National Technical Working Groups.
• Strategize and plan with the CECAP Technical Working Group for the rollout of the CECAP program nation-wide, including selection of new sites to be targeted and development of a national quality assurance system that meets acceptable standards.
• Provide technical support in updating of National CECAP guidelines as needed.
• Ensure implementation of the national CECAP programmatic rollout including implementation of new Cervical Cancer screening methods for HIV positive women.
• Support Sexual Reproductive Health Nurse Mentors to assist sites to analyse, interpret and utilise their own routinely collected data for action.
• Support training for implementation of SRH-related clinical procedures.

Required Education. Training & Experience:

• Medical Degree with at least five years’ experience post qualification.
• Post-graduate diploma or certificate in HIV Management or related field is an advantage
• Previous experience managing a public health programme.
• Previous training in visual inspection under acetic acid (VIA), cryotherapy, and large loop excision of the transformation zone (LLETZ/LEEP).
• Previous experience of at least 2 years in providing and supervising VIA and cryotherapy, and performing LLETZ procedure an advantage.

Current registration with the HPCNA as a Medical Practitioner.
