Why this position exists:

To source and procure materials and services as per the Procurement Officer’s request at optimal prices, while taking cognizance of optimum inventory levels and supply chain constraints, to simultaneously prevent and minimize shortages.

KEY JOB OUTPUTS:

1. Procure materials and services

Procure materials and services as per approved requisitions.
Place orders as per requirements and review daily.
Manage outstanding orders daily and expedite.
Follow up on open orders and provide feedback to end-users.
Check and verify that requisitions are authorised and project numbers are assigned.
Source for material and suppliers as requested and as per procurement process / policy.
Perform telephonic price enquiries with suppliers to obtain the best possible process and request quotations.
Where time allows, obtain 2-3 quotations to source the best prices and availability of material.
Procure materials and services based on approved requisitions and orders.
Provide customer service to end-users and stakeholders.

2. Perform administrative duties

Create and maintain purchase order on electronic system.
Printer order, attach requisition and all relevant documentation and submit to accounts department for payment purposes.

3. Adhere to Company Procurement Procedures

Execute procurement, inventory and logistics strategies.

4. Ad hoc duties

Attend to any reasonable request made by Line Manager.

Adhere to policies and procedures as per ISO 9001.

Minimum requirements:

Grade 12 with 4-5 years’ procurement / purchasing experience.
Computer literate.

Preferred / Advantageous

Certificate / DIploma in Purchasing.
