Introduction
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To safely, efficiently and effectively transport Swakop Uranium’s (SU) employees to and from their place of work, as instructed and scheduled.

Key Performance Areas:
•Perform laid down pre-start checks/inspections and submit the check list and report all defects or malfunctions to the Junior Officer: Transport.
•Ensure that the vehicle has enough fuel to complete the shift.
•Clean the window screens and mirrors to ensure visibility.
•Carry out shutdown check and inspection by parking the vehicle at the designated bay at the end of the shift as per the checklist and report any defects to the Junior Officer: Transport.
•Administer transport vehicle systems and schedules, to ensure effective utilization of resources.
•Adhere to the parking and departure procedures.
•Minimize vehicle down time by identifying and reporting current or impending defeats to the Junior Officer: Transport to ensure necessary correct maintenance measures are performed.
•Comply with housekeeping of premises and transport fleet standards.
•Assist with allocation of transport vehicles to customers in the absence of the Junior Officer: Transport to ensure continuity of the service provided.
•Transport employees to and from the worksite according to the time schedule and route.
•Pick up employees to any approved work-related call-out when requested, and any other ad hoc business request.
•Transport permanent and non-permanent drivers timeously to perform their duties.
•Notify the Junior Officer: Transport telephonically on arrival at the destination, or when experiencing lack of space.
•Control passenger load by ensuring that the number of passengers do not exceed the authorized capacity of the vehicle.
•Cope with changing demands and needs timeously as required, by:
Calling for back-up in event of too many passengers on a specific route.
Requesting another bus or transfer passengers on other bus in event of bus breaking down.
Maintaining radio contact to base stations, as required.
Coordinating a safe environment to prevent hazards for passengers in cases of a breakdown or accident on the road.
Requirements
Requirements and experience:
•Grade 12
•Valid extra heavy duty Driver’s Licence/Code 11/C/CE (for Goods and Passengers).
•Valid Professional Driving Permit (PDP) – Required and renewal annually for driving of trucks and transportation of goods and passengers.
•First Aid Certificate.
•Must have a minimum of 3 years proven heavy duty driving experience and or passenger transportation driving experience.
•Clean driving record, good geographical knowledge – local and national.
