A National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a related field is commonly expected. Relevant experience in sales, inventory management, and team leadership within the automotive or retail sector is highly valued, and certification in areas like SAQA-accredited short courses on retail management or customer service may strengthen an application.

Daily responsibilities include overseeing branch operations, managing stock levels and supplier relationships, leading and coaching sales staff, and meeting monthly sales targets aligned with regional demand patterns. You’ll also handle customer complaints, ensure compliance with local trade regulations (e.g., NAMRA guidelines), and prepare reports for head office using locally used systems like Sage Pastel or Excel-based tracking.

Namibian employers value strong interpersonal skills, cultural awareness across diverse communities (especially Oshiwambo, Afrikaans, and English-speaking customers), and adaptability to infrastructure challenges like intermittent power or logistics delays. Punctuality, respect for hierarchy, and proactive problem-solving are consistently emphasised — particularly in smaller towns where branches serve as key community touchpoints.

With consistent performance, you may progress to Regional Sales Manager, Operations Manager, or Head of Distribution roles within larger Namibian distributors or importers. Some professionals transition into franchise ownership or start complementary businesses (e.g., mobile fitting services), supported by Namibian Development Bank (NDB) or NIEF entrepreneurship programmes.

Employers generally provide at least 21 days’ annual leave, sick leave as per the Labour Act (No. 11 of 2007), and participation in a registered medical aid scheme — often with partial employer contribution.
