PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE JOB (SUMMARY)

Oversee a company’s financial data and compliance by maintaining accurate books on accounts payable and receivable and daily financial entries and reconciliations. They perform daily accounting tasks such as monthly financial reporting, general ledger entries, and record payments and adjustments.

Responsible for recording and maintaining a business’ financial transactions, such as purchases, expenses, sales revenue, invoices, and payments. Record financial data into general ledgers, which are used to produce the balance sheet and income statement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

• Accounting Diploma or B. Com degree or any relevant tertiary qualification will be an advantage
• Understanding accounting best practices
• 5 – 10 years working knowledge in accounting and finance with at least 5 years
• Exceptional Interpersonal skills, a collaborative style, and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Demonstrated initiative and the ability to work effectively within time constraints
• Proficient in Microsoft Office software
• Ability to handle high levels of pressure
• Produce work with a high level of accuracy
• Knowledge of Pastel, Totams or other systems or applications

KEY SKILLS

• Maintain an accurate record of financial transactions
• Update and maintain the general ledger
• Reconciliation of entries into the accounting system
• Recording of debits and credits
• Maintain the trial balance, by a reconciliation of general ledgers
• Account reconciliation to assert the accuracy of transactions
• Use knowledge of local laws to comply with reporting requirements
• Monitor any variances from the projected budget
• Correspondence and booking of Recycling freight/transport
• Invoicing of loads as per weighbridge tickets
• Preparation of relevant border documentation
• Import Vat calculations and necessary invoicing and payments
