Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily blasting operations to ensure safe and efficient execution.
- Lead, coach and monitor the blasting team to achieve operational targets.
- Coordinate blasting activities and ensure the availability of required resources and equipment.
- Monitor blast quality through drill hole inspections, explosive density checks and quality control processes.
- Ensure compliance with blast designs, explosive regulations, site procedures and legal requirements.
- Manage the issuing, control and reconciliation of explosives and blasting accessories.
- Conduct workplace inspections, mentor team members and promote safe working practices.
- Maintain accurate blasting records and ensure compliance with SHEQ standards.
Requirements
- Grade 10 or 12 certificate (20 point minimum)
- Valid Open Pit Blasting Certificate
- Valid Code B / Code 08 Driver’s Licence
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years’ blasting experience in an open-pit mining environment
- Minimum of 3 years’ supervisory experience in blasting or in an acting supervisory role
- Strong knowledge of open-pit blasting operations and blast design interpretation
- Good understanding of explosive handling, quality control and blasting regulations
- Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving abilities
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to coordinate teams, manage resources and maintain high safety standards
- Commitment to safe work practices, operational excellence and continuous improvement
