PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
To support the effective operation of the workshop store through stock handling, issuing, receiving and general housekeeping duties, while also providing reliable transport, messenger, delivery and collection services.
The incumbent will spend approximately 70% of the time performing workshop store related duties and 30% performing driving, collection and delivery functions. The role is further responsible for the removal and transportation of waste from the Operations and Distribution departments, including the handling and disposal of all dustbin waste, skip bin waste and plastic waste generated at the sugar plant.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with receiving, checking and storing of stock and parts.
Assist with issuing of parts, tools and stock items to relevant departments and employees.
Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping standards within the workshop store and surrounding work areas.
Assist with stock take activities and stock control processes.
Assist with the upkeep and organization of electrical and mechanical stock items.
Ensure safe handling and storage of parts, equipment and materials.
Report stock discrepancies, damages, faults or defects to the Foreman.
Assist with general workshop and store related duties as instructed.
Being responsible for reorder report and follow-ups on outstanding orders, daily.
Collect and deliver parts, materials, documents and other items from suppliers and service providers.
Perform regular trips to Tsumeb, Otjiwarongo and Grootfontein as operationally required. Assist with urgent or delayed collections when distribution lorries offload late in outlying towns.
Transport the Controller: Stock and Administration for administrative related tasks when required.
Delivers diesel for the five generators and tractors as needed.
Transport company vehicles to service providers for servicing (Tsumeb), repairs, tyre replacements and related maintenance requirements.
Assist with removal and disposal of waste to designated dump sites during yard and workshop clean-up activities.
Conduct basic vehicle inspections and report defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
Ensure company vehicles are kept clean and in roadworthy condition.
Complete delivery and collection tasks within required timeframes.
Ensure safe transportation of goods, equipment and personnel.
Report any faults and defects to the Foreman.
Adhere to safety standards, practices and procedures.
Adhere to ad hoc tasks as instructed by Foreman.

Requirements

Grade 12 (NQF4).
2 – 3 years’ experience in a Driver Messenger position.
At least 1 year experience in stock handling or stores / workshop environment.
Valid Driver’s License: Code BE, CE
Working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel.
Be willing to work overtime, public holidays and Sundays as well as at external sites (depots) when necessary.
Namibian citizen.
Proficient in English.
