PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To perform routine work related to inspections of formal and informal building structure in the town to ensure adherence to council’s infrastructure, specifications, standards and efficient control over informal settlement under the supervision of Building Inspector or Superiors.

Key Tasks:

Routine inspection work

• Carrying out routine inspections of formal and informal building structure in the town.
• Interprets site plans of demarcated areas of formal and informal building structure.
• Shows beacons and interprets them to customers on demarcated sites of informal and formal building structures.
• Inspects formal and informal building structures in ensuring adherence to council’s infrastructures specifications.
• Exercise control over the illegal construction of informal structures and infrastructures by taking correct necessary measures.
• Demarcates the identified areas meant for the resettlement of inhabitants of informal resettlement.
• Assessing building plans to ensure conformity with acceptable building regulations.
• Assist in co-ordination and supervision in the execution of delegated construction / building projects.
• Evaluates traditional land and properties earmarked for development to ensure that properties owners are compensated accordingly.
• Maintain filling system, upkeep and maintain correspondences and updating building plan filling system.

Requirements

• Grade 12 with 20 points in five subiects including symbol E in English or equivalent qualification
• National Diploma in bricklaying & plastering or equivalent qualification is an added advantage
• Minimum of two (2) years related experience in civil construction industry
  Computer literate
• Driving license
