ARTISAN: FITTER AND TURNER – Namib Mills (Pty) Ltd

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on mechanical equipment, including pumps, conveyors, gearboxes, and processing machinery.
• Diagnose equipment malfunctions, troubleshoot issues, and implement corrective actions promptly.
• Ensure the safe operation of all machinery by adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
• Operate and maintain precision machining tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders to fabricate or repair parts with high precision.
• Fabricate, modify, and repair components as needed to support equipment maintenance.
• Install new machinery and equipment, ensuring proper alignment and calibration for optimal performance.
• Assemble and disassemble machinery, following technical specifications and blueprints.
• Participate in the development and execution of preventive maintenance plans to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
• Keep accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
• Work closely with other maintenance team members, engineers, and production personnel to address maintenance needs and improve equipment reliability.
• Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors to ensure the timely completion of maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
• Stay updated on industry standards and best practices related to equipment maintenance.
• Maintain and organize tools and equipment in a safe and functional condition.
• Report damaged or malfunctioning tools for repair or replacement.
• Timeously attending to call-outs.
• On time reporting/feedback on call-out if any occurred.
• Do risk analysis and decide on method of repair (Planning).
• Ensure accurate and timeous completion of Job Cards.
• Ensure accurate and timeous completion of timesheet/clocking.
• If no Storeman is available, make sure all spares are captured on a Job Card.
• Adhere to Health, Safety and Environmental Policies as laid down by law and the company.
• Always wear proper and clean PPE as prescribed by the company.
• Work area/workbench must be cleaned when job is completed.
• Performing of additional Ad Hoc tasks as and when required and performing it to best of ability and according to company standards and procedures.
• Supervise assistant as per company procedure and apply “on the Job Training” for the assistant.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (NQF 4) and a recognized Trade Certificate in the relevant trade (Fitter & Turner).
• Minimum 3 years’ post-trade experience in an industrial and/or manufacturing environment.
• Namibian citizen.
• Proficiency in English.
• Willing to work night shift and standby.
• Valid Code B driver’s license.
• Well disciplined.
• Hardworking.
• Cooperativeness.
• Reliable.
