A vacancy exists for an Advisor: Technical Training in the Learning and OD section, reporting to the Specialist: Learning and Development. The incumbent will conduct needs analysis on all mining equipment and processing plant operators and will implement best practice learning and development solutions and strategies that, together with a team of trainers, ensure standards and risk compliance and maximize the quality of operator training at the mine.
Key performance areas
Actively participating in creating a healthy and safe working environment;
Implementing an effective and efficient training management process by conducting needs analysis and assess all behavioral, operational, and technical competency requirements;
Identifying T&D solutions and frameworks, develop and maintaining competency and training matrixes, implementing a blended training approach to ensure skills shortage/gaps are addressed efficiently;
Compiling and maintaining the annual/monthly training plan, and schedules and ensuring commitment to the execution of the plan;
Researching, designing, and reviewing courses by applying tested instructional design theories, practices and methods.
Maintaining courses catalog and training documentation;
Ensuring the optimization of the learning and web-based/online training platforms, ensuring adherence to maintenance and license requirements.
Partnering and collaborating with other industry learning professionals, subject matter experts, line management and Skills Trainers in delivering a consistent and relevant learning experience for RUL;
Ensuring quality control and assurance on all training and development initiatives and adherence to National Skills Levy requirements and applicable unit standards.
Supervising the technical skills trainers’ performance to ensure training on mining equipment and plant operators are effective, and targets are met,
Assisting and providing input with the annual preparation of the learning and development budget;

Continuously examine the appropriateness of existing learning and development systems, processes, and practices and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
Minimum requirements
Bachelor or BTech in Human Resources Management/ Human Resource Organisational Development, OR
National Diploma Occupationally Directed Education, Training and Development Practices (EDT).
Bachelor’s degree: Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in the mining, engineering and processing training environment of which 3 years should have been in a supervisory role.
National Diploma: Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in the mining, engineering and processing training environment of which 3 years should have been in a supervisory role.
Registration as an Assessor and Moderator with NTA will be an added advantage.
Solid experience in coordination and execution of annual training plan; and
A valid Code B driver’s license.
Required Competencies and Skills:
Knowledge of effective learning and development methodologies and delivery methods.
Familiarity with e-learning platforms and practices.
Excellent communication (writing, oral, facilitation) and sound knowledge of business acumen.
Proficient in MS Office and Learning Management Systems (LMS), SAP HR system, and Articulate Storyline or similar programs.
