ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER – Faculty of Agricultural Management & Applied Science (FEMAS), EENHANA CAMPUS

A minimum of a National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Administration, Business Management, or a related field is usually required, often with preference for candidates holding the Namibian Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) with credits in English and Mathematics. Relevant short courses from institutions like the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) or the College of the Arts (COTA) in office management or public administration are highly valued.

Daily tasks include managing faculty correspondence, coordinating meetings and academic calendars, supporting student registration and records, and liaising with central university departments in Windhoek or Oshakati. Given Eenhana’s rural setting, officers often handle logistical coordination for field visits, equipment procurement, and community engagement activities aligned with FEMAS’s agricultural extension mandate.

Respect for hierarchy, punctuality, and formal communication—especially in written correspondence and reporting to academic staff—are strongly emphasised in Namibian public institutions. Teamwork and community-mindedness are also valued, reflecting local norms; officers are expected to engage respectfully with diverse ethnic groups and accommodate cultural considerations, particularly in northern Namibia where Eenhana is located.

With experience and further study (e.g., a Bachelor’s Honours or Master’s in Public Administration), officers may progress to Senior Administrative Officer, Faculty Secretary, or roles in Human Resources or Planning within the same institution or across the University of Namibia system.
