ACCOUNTANT POSITION – WALVIS BAY – Venmar Fishing (Pty) Ltd

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the accounting function for assigned companies, ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial information and meeting internal reporting deadlines.
• Prepare and review General Ledger reconciliations, including balance sheet accounts, and maintain supporting schedules.
• Reconcile and maintain cash books, creditors, stock records, and fixed asset registers for the companies assigned.
• Assist the Senior Accountant with the preparation and finalization of Trial Balances and ensure accounts are complete and accurate for reporting purposes.
• Maintain proper supporting documentation and audit files to ensure records are audit ready.
• Develop a strong understanding of the operational activities of the assigned companies and how these impact accounting records and financial reporting.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and good corporate governance practices for the companies assigned.
• Perform any ad hoc tasks or requests as required by the Senior Accountant or management.

Requirements

• BCom degree (completed articles will be advantageous).
• At least 3 to 5 years’ experience as an Accountant or in a similar role (NIPA registration will be advantageous).
• Good communication skills – written and oral (English)
• Must be computer literate (Excel, Pastel Evolution, or similar ERP system)
• Able to drive themselves and their team to report on strict deadlines and keep at team accountable towards their deadlines.
• Sound knowledge of direct and indirect tax compliance
• Namibian citizen
