The National Youth Council of Namibia (NYC) is a State Owned Enterprise following the enactment of the National Youth Council Act. (Act No.3 of 2009) with the objectives of amongst others to facilitate, implement, monitor and evaluate youth development programmes. NYC seeks to recruit skilled and competent persons on vacant positions mentioned below:
Purpose:
To provide an accurate and timely financial management, fixed asset and general ledgers accounting service within the framework of the National Youth Council accounting system, to ensure that the accounting records adhere to the International Financial Reporting Standards, stipulated Company policy and other relevant legislations.
Key Performance Areas:
• Verify sectional operational expenditure
• Administer and co-ordinate the NYC Operational Budget process
• Compile monthly variance reports
• Transact all financial entries within general and subsidiary ledgers
• Maintain a sound internal control environment
• Treasury and cash flow management
• Process and reconcile payment of VAT
• Reconcile regional receipts and expenditures to bank deposits
• Prepare monthly journals
• Reconcile general ledger accounts
• Process monthly & annual depreciations
• Prepare cash flows for Quarterly reports
• Verify acquisitions of Infrastructure & Non-infrastructure items • Compile and analyze customized expenses and revenue reports • Safe guard Asset Documentation
• Supervise the work of the Assets and Accounts Clerk
Educational qualifications & experience required:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
• 3 years in a general accounting environment
• Code B driver’s license.
Competencies Required:
• Knowledge, experience & understanding of the application of PASTEL as a financial system
• Proficiency in MS programs
• Analytical and Problem solving skills
• Ability to function independently
• Time Management
• Supervisory skills
• Decisiveness and judgment
• Good interpersonal & communication skills
• Integrity and Assertiveness
• Reasonable understanding of Income Tax. Value Added Tax Laws, and other relevant reporting frameworks.
