The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG) is a public-private initiative, established in the year 2000, to focus on promoting the Port of Walvis Bay as the entry and exit point for trade between southern Africa and the rest of the world.

As part of the WBCG’s objectives to create capacity and to increase trade flows along the three main transport corridors, we need the services of a qualified, skilled, dynamic and enthusiastic individual based at our Head Office in Windhoek.

Primary Purpose

 The Accountant will perform all the accounting functions of the WBCG in accordance with the goals and objectives of the organization and requirements of corporate governance and accounting principles. He/She must be able to work independently, maintain a proper accounting function and manage the portfolio appropriately. The Accountant reports to the Manager: Finance and Administration of the WBCG.

Main responsibilities Requirements

•  Record all bank statement transactions of the various bank accounts
• Responsible for the preparation and processing of monthly payroll
• Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
• Provide internal accounting service to the WBCG
• Maintenance of fixed assets register and short-term insurance policy
• Liaise with banks, suppliers, members and donors when required
• Assist with annual and project audits
• Prepare interim and final financial reports for projects
• Prepare and submit bi-monthly VAT and monthly Import VAT and PAYE reports
• Grade 12 with at least 3 years’ degree in Accounting
• 3 Years appropriate experience
• Ability to work independently
• Good writing and administrative skills
• Thoroughness, honesty, accuracy and attention to detail
• Computer literacy (MS Word, Excel) and Pastel Accounting Software, Pastel Payroll
• Namibian Citizenship
