ACCOUNT SPECIALIST – Vector Logistics

A National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Logistics, or a related field is commonly expected. Relevant short courses from institutions like the Namibia University of Science and Technology (NUST) or the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) in customer service or account management add value. Some employers may accept equivalent experience in lieu of formal qualifications, especially with proven client-facing logistics or transport industry exposure.

You’ll manage client accounts by coordinating shipments, resolving delivery queries, updating tracking information on local systems like SAP or custom platforms, and liaising with internal teams (warehousing, transport, finance). Daily tasks include responding to emails and calls from Namibian clients—often in English, with some Afrikaans or Oshiwambo depending on region—and preparing weekly performance reports aligned with local KPIs such as on-time delivery and invoice accuracy.

Punctuality, respect for hierarchy, and relationship-building are highly valued—clients and colleagues often expect face-to-face follow-ups or courtesy calls, especially in Windhoek and regional hubs. While deadlines are taken seriously, flexibility around timing (e.g., accommodating client availability during business hours across time zones or rural access constraints) is common practice. Direct communication is appreciated, but delivered with cultural sensitivity and formality where appropriate.

With 2–4 years’ experience, you may advance to Senior Account Specialist or Account Manager, overseeing larger portfolios or key national clients. Further growth could lead to roles such as Logistics Operations Coordinator or Customer Service Team Lead—often supported by internal training or NCCI-accredited professional development. Some professionals transition into sales, procurement, or supply chain planning roles within larger Namibian logistics firms or multinational partners operating locally.
