The National Commission on Research, Science and Technology (NCRST) is a statutory body established under Namibian law to coordinate, promote, and regulate research, science, and technology activities across the country. Headquartered in Windhoek, NCRST implements national policy, funds priority research, and supports innovation ecosystems in Namibia. It serves as Namibia’s national focal point for international science cooperation, including hosting the Biosafety Clearing-House for Namibia under the Cartagena Protocol. The Commission also advises the Namibian Government on STI (science, technology, and innovation) strategy and capacity-building initiatives nationwide.
