Gibeon Village Council is the local authority responsible for the governance and administration of Gibeon, a small settlement in southern Namibia’s Hardap Region. Established as a proclaimed village council under Namibia’s local authority framework, it manages the village’s land and common areas on behalf of its residents. Its core functions include the provision of basic municipal services such as water supply, sanitation, refuse removal, and the upkeep of streets and public spaces within the village boundaries. Gibeon lies along the B1 road between Mariental and Keetmanshoop, and the surrounding area is internationally recognised as the source of the famed Gibeon meteorites. As a public institution rooted in the community, the council represents local interests within the Hardap Region’s governance structures while serving as a source of administrative employment in the village.
