MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
» The Volunteer will assist with community education on sexual reproductive health, COVID-19,
mental health interventions, gender-based violence, unintended pregnancies, substance
abuse, bullying and constructive coping mechanisms;
» They will work closely with the mobile outreach clinic team to create demand and linkage to
services;
» They will assist with advocacy activities on SRH and GBV;
» They will work closely with Youth Project Officers and other agencies to improve community
accessibility to available services.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
» Assist in sensitizing, educating and help create demand among youth in schools and
communities in Ohangwena and Omusati regions and create linkage to available services;
» Assist with mobilization, education and linking adolescents and young people communities
to relevant #BeFree and #BreakFree campaign activities;
» Help to identify and establish community and school outreach sites that are frequented by
youth;
» Develop a monthly outreach plan in collaboration with the Youth Project Officers and the
mobile clinic team;
» Assist in educating youth, with a focus on adolescent girls and young women, on key HIV
prevention, GBV, IPV, and SRH messages;
» Refer at risk youth to HIV Testing Services (HTS);
» Assist in identifying, facilitating, monitoring and evaluating condom distribution points in
respective communities and schools;
» Prepare and submit monthly activity reports to supervisors;
» Complete monthly time sheets;
» Collaborate with the existing volunteers from the Ministry of Health and Social Services and
other organizations in the coordination of community-based health care services;
» Perform other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Required
» Should be 18-28 years of age;
» Grade 10 certificate.
Preferred
» Good English writing and communication skills;
» Willingness to work with people, able to make home visits and is physically fit;
» Respected by the community, and committed to community service;
» Good organizational skills;
» Prior experience with community-based health care is an advantage;
» Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times;
» Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
particularly young people;
» Ability to conceptualize innovative concepts that youth relate to;
» Youth friendliness and non-judgemental attitude towards young people;
» Exercise ethical practices, respectful conduct and behaviour towards internal and external
stakeholders, and equitable treatment of others in all activities.
