Head Business Support Unit

Primary purpose of position
- Develop, refine, and effectively deploy and manage a business support capacity for the total spectrum of NamPost business, banking and functional business requirements.
- Ensure BSU systems & human capacity in line with the ongoing assessment of the various business and functional unit needs.
- Ensure the ongoing alignment of support services with business needs, and the provision of services within agreed service levels/quality and efficiencies in service delivery.
- To enable business change management and the facilitation of the enabling function in their quest to optimise systems solutions.
- Further the use of data bases, analyses, reports, functional processing enabling progressive efficiency of service delivery amongst users in close liaison with user support functionalities.
- Ensure superior levels of integration of BSU with IT colleague functions to enable seamless IT services and support delivery.

- BSU Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Management Effectiveness;
- Project Management Effectiveness;
- BSU Human Resources Effectiveness; and
- BSU Stakeholder Relationships & Support Related Communications Effectiveness.
Educational and experience requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a computer related field; Associate degree in Telecommunications/Technology or IT related certification or diploma in Networks+, Server+, Security+, MCTS, CCNA, CCNE, CCIE, CCNP, MCSE or MCSA. Qualifications in ISO based standards a distinct advantage. Min of 4 years equivalent formal studies, with either a Business or IT emphasis or both after schooling, with a post-graduate business degree a recommendation.
- A total of 12 years’ ICT Management and related experience, of which 3 years in a similar position, with 5 years’ experience in an ICT management team managerial role at full operational management level or equivalent combinations.
- Due to the nature of NamPost Postal business and processes, having a minimum of 5 (five) years postal experience in a technical/ICT role is of advantage. Must have clear understanding of postal business processes and how they translate into technology tools, rules and structures.
- Recent exposure of managing a high-pressure user support and/or services environment demonstrating superior service to internal and/or external customers.
- Significant experience of latest user/customer serving technology and a clear understanding of functional delivery capabilities and utility optimisation of technology for user.
- Solid experience in the banking or financial services environment.
- Sound knowledge of change management, user coaching, functional proliferation of systems at user interfaces.
- Solid knowledge of financial postings on technical platforms is a must with at least 5 (five) years’ experience in GL posting on WRE, SAP and Traderoot. Must have at least 3 (three) years of clearing, waste clearing and settlement experience within the financial services industry and Namibian Payment System.
- Excellent knowledge of the NamPost business model, its conversion strategy towards IT and digitisation leverage within the business.
- Background in functional design and utilisation of business systems with an emphasis on NamPost business scope. Solid understanding of services analysis, budgeting and business operations. Superior analytical and problem-solving/solutions experience as shown by successful change implementation. A strong strategic and business mindset. Excellent and proven organizational and leadership skills. Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities. Must be able to guide and direct with credibility on functional IT business matters at different organisational levels.
- Strong, clear and concise report writing skills for various levels of audience such as Exco, Board and senior management.
- A sound understanding of technology risk management principles and frameworks with an emphasis of the user interfaces.
Skills and Knowledge requirements
- Superior analytical skills and reasoning ability, computer literacy, knowledge of banking technology and or business and operational platforms and systems with an emphasis on user interface optimisation.
- Previous exposure to banking related compliance and to the national payment systems, well grounded in information technology in general.
- Must have at the ability and skills to operate and communicate clearly at senior management, Exco and Board level. Must be clear and confident in presenting to senior staff.
- Change management and support skills. Systems functional and business analysis skills.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills and the ability to conceptualise and think strategically.
- Able to work with all levels of management and across the organizations departments. Must be a great motivator of staff, constructive, positive and supportive with the interaction of technical and all other business colleagues.
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills including the ability to manage competing priorities in a branch-based network environment.
