How to Apply
Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications or certifications are typically required for a Sales Representative role in Namibia?
A Grade 12 certificate is usually the minimum requirement, though many employers prefer candidates with a diploma or degree in Business, Marketing, or related fields. Relevant short courses — such as those offered by NAMFISA on insurance sales or NTA-accredited sales training — can strengthen applications, especially for technical products like tyres.
What does a typical day look like for a Sales Representative at a company like TrenTyre in Namibia?
Daily tasks include visiting fleet operators, garages, and transport companies across urban and regional areas, demonstrating tyre features, negotiating pricing, and processing orders. Fieldwork is common, requiring reliable transport and comfort with travel across regions like Khomas, Erongo, or Oshana — often involving handwritten or mobile-based order capture due to variable connectivity.
How does Namibian work culture influence expectations for Sales Representatives?
Relationship-building and personal trust are highly valued; punctuality, respectful communication (including use of local languages where appropriate), and understanding of regional business norms — such as longer decision-making timelines in SMEs — are essential. Employers expect resilience in navigating infrastructure challenges, like fuel shortages or road conditions, without compromising client commitments.
What realistic career progression paths exist for Sales Representatives in Namibia’s sales sector?
With consistent performance, representatives often advance to Senior Sales Representative or Team Leader roles, then potentially to Sales Supervisor or Regional Sales Manager — particularly in larger distributors or manufacturers. Further growth may include transitioning into procurement, logistics coordination, or specialised roles like Technical Sales, supported by internal training or part-time NTA-registered qualifications.
What benefits are commonly offered to full-time Sales Representatives in Namibia?
Standard statutory benefits include 21 days’ annual leave, sick leave, and maternity/paternity leave per the Labour Act. Many formal employers also provide medical aid (often through schemes like NAMFISA-registered providers) and pension contributions — though coverage varies, and field-based roles may offer vehicle allowances instead of company cars.
How should I apply for a Sales Representative role in Namibia, and what do employers typically prioritise?
Submit a concise CV and cover letter via email or WhatsApp (widely used for initial contact), highlighting proven sales achievements, client portfolio examples, and familiarity with Namibian transport or industrial sectors. Employers value demonstrable negotiation skills, self-motivation, valid driver’s licence, and evidence of reliability — such as references from previous Namibian employers or community leaders.
