PHARMACIST – Welwitschia Pharmacy

Must have a Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm) degree recognized by the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA) and be registered with the Namibia Pharmacy Council. Some employers may also require a period of internship or community service.

Dispensing prescribed medications, counseling patients on proper use and side effects, managing inventory, ensuring compliance with Namibia’s Medicines and Related Substances Act, and collaborating with doctors and nurses on medication therapy. Pharmacists also maintain records of controlled substances and participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety.

Expect a collaborative environment where teamwork and respect for hierarchical structures are valued. Punctuality and adherence to shift schedules are important, and there is often an emphasis on community service and patient-centered care.

After gaining experience, pharmacists can move into supervisory or managerial roles, specialize in areas such as clinical pharmacy or hospital pharmacy, or pursue further education like a Master’s in Pharmacy or public health to qualify for teaching or regulatory positions. Leadership positions may involve overseeing pharmacy staff, managing budgets, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
