TECHNICAL CONTROLLER: PASTA – Namib Mills

Key Responsibilities

• Efficiently coordinate and plan the packing requirements with the Pasta Maker.
• Ensure packing targets are met according to the production plan and equipment capacities.
• Plan and organise staff, equipment and materials in the packing area.
• Ensure all materials are planned, organised and available on time to ensure efficient packing.
• Plan ahead and alert the Pasta Maker to potential bottlenecks/problems and devise alternative plans to maintain output targets, housekeeping and orderliness.
• Ensure equipment is correctly set up, operated and minor problems are resolved speedily.
• Ensure the correct materials are used to pack the correct product at the required quantities.
• Ensure all finished product meets product and quality standard.
• Ensure staff performs all the necessary quality checks and records are up to date.
• Ensure that packing machines, surrounding areas and structures are clean and maintain good housekeeping.
• Ensure damaged or wasted materials are retained and counted at the end of shifts and submit records.
• Monitor and drive waste reduction in the packing area.
• Ensure staff is occupied with productive tasks, even when no product is packed.
• Be able to take over other staff duties where necessary.
• Continually identify improvement opportunities and report such to superiors.
• Assist with the production processes, when necessary, in the temporary role of Controller, Learner Pasta Maker, Assistant Pasta Maker or Pasta Maker.
• Keep the attendance register. Make necessary arrangement in co-ordination with the Pasta Maker for substitutes to ensure a full complement of staff members is present.
• Perform the required quality checks and complete the necessary records timeously as required.
• Complete and submit all necessary records timeously.
• Assist the Pasta Maker when staff needs to complete records or registers.
• Assist the Pasta Maker with staff communication.
• Assist the Pasta Maker with staff leave planning and ensure substitutes are arrange timeously.
• Urgently report any defects to the Pasta maker.
• Report any broken or damaged equipment to the Pasta Maker and follow up until equipment is repaired or replaced
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
• In coordination with the Pasta Maker ensure appropriate disciplinary action is taken when necessary
• Help with stock taking when necessary.
• Assist superiors with staff training where necessary.
• Assist in maintaining positive staff moral where possible.
• Treat minor injuries.
• Practice first aid with more serious injuries.
• Carry out any tasks given by the superiors.

Requirements

• Grade 12 (NQF 4) with proven technical knowledge and 4 – 5 years relevant experience in a technical environment.
• OR
• A relevant Post-School Certificate (NQF 5) in a technical field and 2 – 3 years relevant experience in a technical environment.
• Proficient in written and spoken English.
• Namibian citizen OR eligible to become a Namibian citizen.
• Must be willing and able to work shifts, overtime, weekends and Public Holidays.
