This position is responsible for controlling warehouse operations and supervising the receiving, storage, and distribution of goods and supplies in the most effective and efficient manner, in order to meet warehouse operations objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensures appropriate controls and procedures pertaining to end-user logistics, planning, and warehouse service-level delivery.
- Supervise warehouse staff to ensure work fulfilment, and make suggestions to improve the working environment through the development of work instructions and procedures.
- Reduce shrinkage in the warehouse through revision of storage practices and implementation of security requirements.
- Ensure overall maintenance and up-keep of equipment and vehicles as well as appropriate procedures to guide the process.
- Ensure optimal effectiveness and efficiency in the Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) process by:
- a. ensuring procedures and work instructions are in place.
- b. reviewing daily reports to manage and prevent open reservations.
- c. liaising with the VMI vendors regarding deviations and discrepancies.
- Liaise with procurement regarding any contractual deviations.
- Manage optimal warehouse utilisation by evaluating bin location usage, optimising physical process flow, and ensuring appropriate procedures and work instructions are in place.
Requirements
- Grade 12.
- Valid driver’s licence.
- A diploma in Supply Chain or Materials Management as a minimum.
- Alternatively, a relevant combination of formal procurement-related experience and additional relevant studies.
- Five (5-7) years’ experience in stock control and material management within ERP systems, of which three (3) years should be at supervisory level.
- Ability to operate a forklift is an added advantage.
