Position: Regional Laboratory Officers (x2)
Reports to: Field Laboratory Specialist
Location: Rundu xl and Oshakati xl
Period: March to September 2021
The Company
The University of California San Francisco (UCSF) through its affiliate international NGO Global Programs for Research and Training (GP) is engaged in several projects in Namibia that are funded by the U.S. Government to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MOHSS) and its partners. The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MOHSS) and Global Programs for Research and Training are implementing the Recency testing project.
The Recency Regional Laboratory Officer (RLO) will work closely with their Global Programs (GP) and UCSF colleagues, the Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), Namibia Institute of Pathology (NIP) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Namibia
The RLO will support the regional and district level Laboratory activities for the HIV Recency study, this will include coordination of Recency roll out and initial and refresher trainings, supervision visits to health facilities by administering a standardised supervision tool. It is expected that they provide onsite mentoring and coaching of Recency providers.
REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Biomedical Laboratory Sciences.
- Certification in HIV Rapid Testing will be an added advantage.
- Experience in HIV Recency Testing will be an added advantage.
REQUIRED MINIMUM (relevant) WORK EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum experience of 3 years (after graduation) in the health care field.
- Have a thorough understanding of the study protocol and operations manual.
- Have previous experience in supporting trainings.
- Experience in HIV rapid testing.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Availability to travel frequently within assigned region or districts.
- Valid code B driver’s licence.
- Available for duration of study.
- Namibian citizenship.
