Visions Consulting was appointed by NamPower to independently administer the executive recruitment process in compliance with company policy and governance principles.
Mandate: NamPower’s mandate, derived from the Electricity Act of 2007, is to generate, transmit, distribute, supply and trade in electricity within Namibia, including import and export activities. The mandate further positions NamPower as the supplier of last resort, ensuring national electricity supply security and supporting socio-economic development.

Primary Purpose of the job:
The purpose of the Managing Director’s role at NamPower is to provide leadership and strategic direction to drive business growth, innovation and sustainability, to maximise long-term value for stakeholders, and to ensure reliable and affordable supply of electricity and optimal shareholder returns. This position is responsible for governance oversight, optimising operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of sustainability and high performance.
Key Performance Areas:

Provide strategic leadership to align NamPower’s operations with its mandate, national goals and long-term sustainability.

Drive financial sustainability through sound financial management, budgeting, capital investment and compliance.

Lead the formulation and execution of corporate strategies, business plans and reporting frameworks.

Drive operational excellence and a reliable power supply through effective oversight of business units and infrastructure.

Strengthen governance, enterprise risk management and compliance with SHE (Safety, Health and Environment) standards.

Promote a strong corporate culture, strengthen talent management and development through sound HR and performance management practices.

Lead and maintain meaningful stakeholder engagements, including the strategic alignment with external partners and promoting NamPower’s goals and values.
Minimum Requirements:
-
An accredited Master’s Degree in Business Management/Administration, Engineering, Science or Technology, or an equivalent related at NQF Level 9.

A valid Code B Driver’s License is required.
Experience Required:
-
A minimum of ten (10) years of practical experience in the Energy or related industry, of which at least five (5) years must have been at Executive Management level.

In-depth knowledge of public sector, governance and energy industry frameworks, including the regulatory and constitutional insight relevant to public enterprises.

Proven strategic leadership and transformational capability, with a track record in innovation, stakeholder relations excellence and sustainable business development.

Advanced risk management and risk oversight abilities, with knowledge and application of corporate governance and regulation.

Advanced decision-making and problem-solving ability, supported by sound judgement.

High business acumen and ability to navigate through a complex environment.

Engage meaningfully with all stakeholder groups, internal and external partners, government and the Board.

Strategic thinker with sound business acumen, financial insight and analytical orientation.

Up-to-date understanding of the Namibian and SADC regional business environment, landscape, and electricity industry technical and market trends.

Resilient, resourceful and highly ethical with an adaptive, people-centered leadership style.
