VACANCY
This position requires a highly skilled and experienced professional with a strong background in security operations, wildlife conservation, and crisis management. The APU Manager will be responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of anti-poaching departments, including training and mentoring personnel, overseeing data collection and analysis, managing logistics and resources, and coordinating human resources. The role also involves developing and implementing counter-poaching strategies and maintaining close liaison with local law enforcement agencies. Operational deployment in the field will be required, in accordance with the role.
Requirements:

Minimum 5 years’ senior experience in Counter Poaching Unit Management or equivalent military and/or security industry position in a high-risk conservation area
-
Tertiary qualification in wildlife conservation, natural resource management, security operations, or a related field is required
-
Knowledge of law enforcement/security legislation and experience in arrest/apprehension procedures particularly with wildlife crime will be advantageous
-
Demonstrated experience in leading multi-disciplinary field teams in remote, high-pressure settings
-
Firearm certification and proven firearm handling experience

Experience working with K9 units, aerial surveillance (e.g., drones), and intelligence operations
-
Must be computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software

Proficiency in mapping analysis, GPS data collection, and mapping; GIS skills
-
Must be physically fit and able to work in rugged and potentially hazardous environments
-
Fluency in English (additional language skills beneficial)

Be willing to work long, flexible hours in remote and high-pressure environments with minimal supervision

First Aid proficiency, including experience with trauma care in remote or high-risk environments

Additional experience in wildlife management or similar conservation fields would be advantageous
-
Must have a valid driver’s license and passport

Must have police clearance certificates and will be required to undergo a full background check prior to employment
This is a senior position embedded in field operations within a significant conservation area. Only candidates with relevant operational experience and leadership credentials will be considered.
